Many medical professional say an aerobic routine performed three to four times a week can add years to your life and increase your sense of well-being. So you should use the right equipment to faciltate your workouts. Follow these steps to find it.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hand weights
  • Step bench
  • Exercise mat
  • Water aerobics equipment
  • Gloves
Step1
Acquaint yourself with the various aerobics equipment used in different forms of this type of cardio exercise. After you decide what exercise you want, purchase the equipment or visit a gym that offers the proper tools.
Step2
Select a step bench with a non-slip surface. Get an adjustable step bench so you can add on additional risers. You want to start out with one riser for a beginner step class, and then build to two or three down the line. The higher the step bench, the more intense the workout on your legs.
Step3
Get equipment for water aerobics. Gather the fitness accessories good for this water-friendly, aerobic toning class. Use a set of water dumbbells that have built-in flotation pads. Wear neoprene (rubber-like) water gloves to add resistance to your moves and increase your heart rate during your aquatic workout.
Step4
Collect a supply of hand weights. During an aerobics workout such as body sculpting, little weights are used to help build your muscles while exercising. Get two sets of weights (3 and 5 lbs each). Some classes switch between two levels of weights within one class to vary the tension on certain muscles.
Step5
Wear aerobic gloves especially if using hand weights. This can offer you more of a grip and focus your movements, providing stability while using cardio machines.
Step6
Make use of added equipment for incorporating Pilates and toning into your aerobics. Use a workout ring or ball. These devices offer added tension to your workout and different options for performing different positions to enhance you aerobics.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use a kickboard in water aerobics. Similar to a boogie board, this device offers you stability for water exercises and swimming multiple laps.
  • Select an ab-toner incline bench for doing crunches and long repetitions of body toning movements. Combine the bench to simulate a chest press done with upward arm movements while holding hand weights.
