How to Decorate for a Bridal Shower

The bridal shower is a traditional party, but that doesn't mean the decorations have to be. Some may enjoy to decorate in white and other simple colors for a more elegant look, but there's no reason why you can't use fruit, streamers, bright colors and any other objects you can think of to decorate. If you just choose things that you know the bride would appreciate, even the simplest things can go a long way.

Decorate for a Bridal Shower

Step1
Begin with some simple streamers along the ceiling, hanging from chandeliers, and draped decoratively across doorways. White is usually a good shade to begin with, but pastels are also appropriate as bridal shower decorations.
Step2
Make your table decorations simple by using decorative bowls and fruit. Party stores often carry plastic bowls with a great metallic finish to help make it look like you spent a fortune. More expensive decorations could be roses or daisies.
Step3
Use the time of year to help you come up with a theme for your decorations. Autumn weddings and showers always look great with a combination of wedding white and autumn reds. Find imitation fall leaves at a party or craft store and spread them on the guest tables.
Step4
Have some balloons ready to go. There are balloons that have a terrific satin-like finish that would look wonderful as part of a bridal shower decoration.
Step5
Place pictures of the bride to be on each table, or have a collage or album set up so that guests can see how far she's come. There are even things like "photofetti" that you can create (tiny reproductions of pictures which you can spread on a table for guests to look at).
Step6
Splurge a little and get lace for each table. Lace can be very expensive, but if you only have one or two tables to decorate, it shouldn't break the bank.

Tips & Warnings

  • Begin decorating as soon as you can to insure you're not scrambling at the last second. If the bridal shower is at a neutral location, this should be easy. If it's at the bride's house, you might want to enlist the help of friends to get her out.
  • Take care when hanging decorations at greater heights. Use a sturdy stepstool before you use a chair, and never stand on the top rung of a ladder.
