Things You'll Need:
- Decorations
-
Step 1
Go with a theme. Themed parties are often the easiest to plan since you are giving yourself very clear choices as to how to decorate. Hawaiian/Island themes are great for those who love the sun and sand, while sports enthusiasts may enjoy a sports theme. You can even create a theme around the graduate's sorority or fraternity, when applicable.
-
Step 2
Choose decorations that will not pose a serious fire hazard. This is especially true when you are hosting your party in a public place.
-
Step 3
Twist two different kinds or colors of streamers together to produce an alternating effect. You can easily hang streamers along the walls, as well as hang them from the ceiling and over doorways.
-
Step 4
Buy shaped confetti for the tables. Little mock graduation caps are popular, as are those in the shape of the graduation year. A bag of 1,000 or more confetti bits is usually quite inexpensive, and can come in an assortment of colors.
-
Step 5
Choose the school colors when you decorate for a graduation party. The school colors of the graduate should be easy enough to locate, and most popular school colors are readily available in party decorations.
-
Step 6
Invest in favors for the party, but make them a part of the decoration. For example, if you are using graduation caps as table centerpieces (fill them with flowers or balloons), then make cookies shaped like caps and use shoestring candy to double as a tassel.
-
Step 7
Line your property with balloons. Your guests will know where to go, and if you make a path with balloons, they'll know whether to head to the front door or just make their way into the back.
