Step 1
Reflect on your budget and how much are you planning to spend. Give yourself a price range rather than a definitive figure. Finding the right articles is very important, and you don't want to have skimp too much.
-
Step 2
Select a theme or sentiment that you would like the favors to communicate. Favors that feature a Bible verse (for example, Luke 22:19), a thoughtful saying, a cross or an angel in addition to the child's name will convey this message.
-
Step 3
Review as many kinds of favors as you can on the Internet or in a local store. Go for meaning over flash and expense. A good starting place is Favor Warehouse (see Resources below).
-
Step 4
Observe the price ranges and what you get for your money. A votive candle in a cross-shaped holder, a bejeweled cross bookmark or an angel-shaped picture frame are only a few of things that can be purchased very inexpensively. For large budgets there are engraved crystal bells, figurines, trinket boxes and even crystal vases.
-
Step 5
Save money by using ribbon engraved with the child's name and the date to decorate the favors rather than engraving the objects themselves.
-
Step 6
Consider making the favors yourself. Ready-made materials such as candles, silk flowers and small boxes and bags can be purchased at any craft store. A glue gun and a little ingenuity can produce a beautiful favor with great sentimental value as well.
