Mojitos, anyone? Perhaps you'd prefer a margarita or a martini. Divorce parties are the perfect opportunity to get creative behind the bar. Festive drink choices don't have to be limited to alcoholic beverages and hosts can choose from a wide assortment of drink recipes to set the perfect tone for their party.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Cups or glasses
  • Drink condiments
  • Liquor
  • Ice
  • Mixers

Select Drinks for a Divorce Party

Step1
Select drinks that go with the theme of your party. If you haven't chosen a party theme, consider planning the party around one or two main drink items rather than stocking a full bar. Turning your divorce party into a wine tasting or converting your living room into a "martini lounge" can be a fun and economical way to celebrate.
Step2
Consider hiring a bartender so you won't have to slave over a whirring margarita blender all night. If you do decide to mix your own cocktails, select drink recipes online at MixedDrinkRecipes (see Resources below). Look for drinks with fun names like "After a While Crocodile," "Screw You!" and "Beam Me Up Scotty."
Step3
Make a shopping list to stock your divorce party bar. Don't forget limes, lemons, mixers, olives or anything else you'll need to accompany your drink selections. If you're buying cases of wine, call around town or shop online for the best prices.
Step4
Buy enough supplies for each guest to have two to three drinks.
Step5
Stock up on ice, non-alcoholic beverages and disposable cups.
Step6
Order wine by the bottle and margaritas, Sangria or beer by the pitcher to cut down on expenses if you decide to have your divorce party at a bar.

Tips & Warnings

  • Go online and use Evite's Drink Calculator to estimate how much beer, wine and liquor you should buy (see Resources below).
  • If your place is small, consider having your divorce party at a local bar or restaurant.
  • Wait for guests to empty a drink glass before you refill it. Designate a driver or keep the number of a cab service handy, whether you're going home or going out.
