Select party favors for your guests that will convey the mood of your divorce party. Favors can be personalized mementos that resemble wedding party favors inscribed with the date of your divorce, key rings, bubble bath, nail polish or a home-burned CD of your favorite divorce or break-up songs.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Gift tags (optional)
  • Gift bags
  • Party favors
  • Wrapping paper and ribbon
  • Party favor budget

Select and Shop for Party Favors

Step1
Select party favors designed to thank your guests for coming to your divorce party.
Step2
Choose between practical and gag gifts, or mix a little of both. Divorce party favors like "Forget Him" tea bags can be found online at PlumParty (see Resources below).
Step3
Shop around for party favors. Once you decide what you want to give your guests, call local stores and compare shops online for the best price. Get estimates for printing if you want to personalize any items, and find out how much lead time the printer will need.
Step4
Create your own party favors. Burn a CD with your own upbeat "divorce mix" and print a label on your computer. Have t-shirts printed using the design you chose for your divorce cake.

Give Party Favors to Your Guests

Step1
Place the party favors in festive gift bags or wrap in colorful tissue paper like those found at ShinDigz the day before your party (see Resources below).
Step2
Place gift bags at place settings if you're having a sit-down dinner or meeting at a restaurant. If you're having a cocktail party or barbecue, set gift bags by the front door so you can easily hand them to guests as they leave.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to allow enough time for personalized party favors to be printed before your party.
  • Have party favors wrapped or gift bags assembled the day before your party.
  • Try to choose favors that represent your newfound "singlehood." Divorce parties celebrate new beginnings and the favors should reflect that.
  • Be wary of selecting racy party favors depending on your guest list. Close friends may enjoy the humor, while an older relative may be offended.
