  • Fellowship or banquet hall
  • Guest list

Select the Right Location for a Confirmation Party

Step1
Settle on an indoor or an outdoor party. If you choose to hold your party out of doors, have a backup plan in case of rain.
Step2
Consider the number of guests. The larger the party, the better off you might be holding it outside.
Step3
Ask friends and relatives with spacious homes if they would be willing to host the party.
Step4
Consider renting a banquet hall for an afternoon. Many of these spaces are quite inexpensive to rent. However, you may have to go a long way to creating a festive ambience!
Step5
Provide all the invited guests with directions to the party's location. If you plan to hold the party in a banquet hall, ask the proprietors if they have a map available for you to download in PDF.
Step6
Mark the outside of the location with a sign or banner so that guests will recognize the place when they arrive. A bunch of helium-filled balloons makes a pretty and effective eye-catcher.
Step7
Make sure you know exactly when you have to be out of a rented location. If cleanup has to occur by a certain time, make sure guests leave at least a half-hour or hour before that cutoff.

Tips & Warnings

  • For a large outdoor celebration, a public park or a beach could be a great party location. For a small outdoor party, consider hosting the event in your backyard.
  • See if the church in which the confirmand is being confirmed has a fellowship or banquet hall. Ask whether or not this hall is available for you to use. You may be able to hold a large indoor party in the hall immediately after the confirmation ceremony. This location could be free or available for a very low rental cost.
  • Select a location with the equipment you need. If you want to barbecue, make sure there is a grill at the location. If you want to dance, make sure there is a place for a band or DJ to set up.
  • If you ask friends if you can use their home to host the party, don't expect them to decorate beforehand or clean up afterward. Those are still your responsibilities, even if the venue is someone else's home.
