Confirmation is about religious growth and maturity. It represents a young Christian's journey into adulthood. In many churches, it is a very important ceremony. And as such, it should be commemorated with a beautifully decorated, festive party!

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Party favors
  • Party decorations
  • Friends to help you decorate

Decorate Your Venue for a Confirmation Party

Step1
Pick a venue. Your location (inside or outside, in a big room or a small room) will influence the type of decorating you do more than anything else.
Step2
Know how many tables there will be. Each table needs its own centerpiece, such as flower baskets, balloons or party favors.
Step3
Decide on a theme. The theme of your party will impact the kind of decorations you use. If the confirmand doesn't want a theme, decide on a color scheme.
Step4
Visit several different party supply stores in your area and check out what they have before you buy anything. Compare the prices and offerings at these brick-and-mortar shops with the prices and offerings of online stores like That's a Wrapper (see Resources below).
Step5
Talk to the confirmand about your thoughts and ideas on decorations. Show the confirmand what's available and see what he or she thinks of it. The guest of honor's input is invaluable.
Step6
Purchase your decorations and store them in a single, easy-to-reach place. Having all your decorations grouped together will make the actual decorating much faster and easier.
Step7
Enlist three or four friends to help you decorate for the party. Blow up balloons, hang streamers, mount banners and so on. Ask these same friends or a different set of pals to help you clean up after the party.
Step8
Be sure to set the tables before the guests arrive. Balloons and streamers are important, but a well-laid table will be the heart of your decor.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be aware of your budget when planning for party decorations. If you can't afford a lot of expensive, personalized decorations, be creative and make your own.
  • Remember, the more you decorate for this confirmation party, the more you'll have to clean up. Don't use this as an excuse to be Spartan with the decorations, but do make sure you have a game plan when it comes time to taking everything down again.
  • When hanging things from the ceiling or another too-high-to-reach place, always use a step ladder rather than a chair. Have someone "spot" you from the ground, to support you in case you start to fall.
