Confirmation is an important step in a young Christian's life, and taking this step is cause for celebration. Plan a menu for a confirmation party that will please the guests as much as it pleases the confirmand.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Eating dishes and utensils
  • Serving dishes and utensils
  • Recipes
  • Ingredients for those recipes

Plan a Delicious Confirmation Party Menu

Step1
Adapt the type of menu to the style of party. The menu for a formal dinner party will be very different from the menu for a barbecue.
Step2
Find out if any of your guests have food allergies or any other special dietary needs. Either avoid items that guests have problems with or have suitable substitutions available.
Step3
Decide where the food will be coming from. You or a friend can cook it personally, or you can choose to have it professionally catered.
Step4
Choose items to grill if it's a barbecue. Opt for simple, inexpensive hot dogs and hamburgers or pricier, more elaborate chicken, ribs or steaks.
Step5
Decide whether it will be buffet style or if there will be servers for a more formal dinner.
Step6
Plan on some kind of appetizers, just in case the main course takes longer to serve than expected. Think fruit bowls and vegetable dip.
Step7
Don't forget dessert! A cake with the confirmand's name on it is probably best, but decide on what kind, where it will come from and whether or not it will be served with ice cream!
Step8
Keep the confirmand in the loop on all decisions concerning food. It's his or her party, after all. The guest of honor should eat what he or she likes!

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure you have more than enough for everybody. Figure out the maximum number of people you might have at the party and then plan for a few more on top of that. Especially in "serve yourself" situations, some people will take large amounts or come back for seconds.
  • If you have extra food at the end of the night, send it home with some of your guests. They'll be grateful that they don't have to cook for an extra night.
  • If there will be small children at the party, be sure that you have some kid-friendly foods such as macaroni and cheese, hot dogs and hamburgers. This is especially important if you decide to serve fancy or unusual foods.
