Select and Send Confirmation Party Invitations

Step1
Know first what kind of party it's going to be. Once you know the venue and the theme (if any), you can tailor your invitations to complement the celebration.
Step2
Plan out your invitations well in advance, and send them out a minimum of 2 or 3 weeks before the party (longer for a larger gathering). Give people time to clear their schedules.
Step3
Decide whether to have invitations printed up individually or written by hand. You can buy a box of cards at a greeting card store and write in the information by hand if you prefer the personal touch. You can also hire a calligrapher to write them for you.
Step4
Be sure to include all pertinent information, such as the name of the confirmand, date, time and location of the party. Let guests know if the celebration is formal or informal and whether or not to bring a gift.
Step5
Decide if you want to ask guests to send back an RSVP. If you do, be sure to select and include a "Will Attend/Will Not Attend" card with a postage-paid envelope in which to send it back.
Step6
Decide on envelope style, size and color. Simple, plain cards get a bit of pizzazz when tucked into colorful envelopes or plain envelopes with colorful, flamboyant liners. Then again, you may wish to abandon envelopes altogether in favor of invitation postcards.
Step7
Make sure you have everyone's correct address before you send out your invitations. Email is usually the easiest way to perform this task.
Step8
Be sure you have enough postage for all the invitations. Remember that unusually shaped or oversized cards require more postage.

Tips & Warnings

  • A sit-down dinner calls for fancy, professionally designed invitations. A barbecue, however, should have more informal invitations. You could even design and print them yourself using your computer.
  • Note that confirmation party invitations are different from confirmation ceremony invitations. The latter should always be somewhat formal. If you want people to come to the ceremony as well as the party afterward, you might simply add "And please join us for a party afterward at the following location" on your ceremony invitations.
  • Personalize the invitation by addressing each invitee by name.
