Confirmation is a momentous occasion in the life of a young Christian. For Catholics, it represents a deepening of spiritual gifts and a maturing of the values that began at baptism. For Protestants, it means becoming a full member of the church, with all the benefits and responsibilities that entails. Confirmation party favors will remind your guests that they were part of your son's or daughter's big day.

Select Appropriate Confirmation Party Favors

Step1
Choose a theme for your confirmation party. This may help you select appropriate favors, since you can choose favors that complement your special theme.
Step2
Review your guest list and keep the guests' ages and interests in mind when choosing party favors. Try to choose items that everyone will enjoy.
Step3
Think about personalizing your confirmation party favors. For instance, you can tuck trinkets or goodies into bags with the name of the confirmand printed on them. If it is a small gathering, you can have party favors created individually with the name of the confirmand and the name of each guest.
Step4
Remember that this party is to commemorate a religious rite of passage. As such, you may want to give more Christian-themed party favors, such as crosses, rosary beads or illustrated Bibles.
Step5
Ask the confirmand what kind of party favors he or she would like to select. It's the confirmand's party, after all.
Step6
Keep in mind whether the party will be indoors, outdoors or both. This may affect what kind of party favors you have. For instance,a pinata would not work well as a favor for an indoor dinner party, but it would be adorable as a favor or door prize given at a barbecue or picnic.

Tips & Warnings

  • Know your budget! If you can't afford to give out personalized party favors to each guest, then keep things simple. With a little creativity, you can even make party favors yourself.
  • Copies of Luther's "Small Catechism" or even lovely cards printed with meaningful and appropriate Bible verses make special, inexpensive favors.
  • Noisemakers can make a great party favor, but remember this: if there are small children at the party, the whole gathering may be drowned out by the sound of noisemakers for the party's duration! (Sometimes this will happen even if there are only adults at the party.) If you plan to give noisemakers, give them toward the end of the celebration.
