Have you ever walked your dog when it was hot and your dog seemed to get overheated? Try these simple tips to keep your dog cool all summer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Whenever you take your dog outside for a walk, pay attention to their pantinng. The more excessevly they are panting, the hotter they are. Also, if your dog's heart-beat is very fast, find some shade and relax for a few moments.
Step2
When indoors, have plenty of water on hand for your dog. When they get hot, they drink plenty of water to stay cool. Also, try adding ice cubes to his water bowl if you plan on leaving the dog alone for any period of time.
Step3
If you don't have an air conditioner in the house, buy a few fans and place them in certain areas of your house that will allow a breeze throughout it.
Step4
Keep windows open but the screens closed to let the breeze come through.
Step5
Another thing that works great is a wet towel. Take a large towel that the dog can lay on and wet it until it is thoroughly soaked. Lay it on the ground. Your dog cools off from their stomach so they will lay on it.

Tips & Warnings

  • My dog uses the dining room table, which the dining room is connected to the living room, for shade and a place to nap when it gets really hot.
  • If your dog does not stop panting and salivating after a few minutes, take a cool towel and wipe them down with it. If this does not work, rush your dog to the animal hospital since these are signs of heat-stroke.
