Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Basketball hoop(preferably one that can be put at different heights).
  • A basketball
  • Determination
Step1
Stretch every muscle that you can.
Step2
Do calf raises and wall squats.
Step3
Stretch again.
Step4
Go to a basketball hoop and try dunking. If it is too hard lower the height of the hoop if you are able to.
Step5
Keep practicing every day.
Step6
Once it is easy to dunk raise the height of the hoop and try to do cool tricks. If you need help coming up with tricks watch Michael Jordan videos. Go to www.yahoo.com and search "Michael Jordan dunks" under videos.
Step7

Tips & Warnings

  • Stretch as much as possible.
  • Try to get a high vertical jump (look at Dr. Danny's "How to increase your vertical jump" article).
  • Always stretch, if you don't you can get injured.
  • Repeat the exercises every other day.

on 7/19/2007 It's also good to start off by simply trying to grab the rim and not focusing on dunking. Either jump vertically and try and grab the rim or take a few steps before jumping. If you do this regularly you'll find that you can grab more and more of the rim - maybe just a finger at first, then the palm, and then the wrist. When you can easily get your hand to the rim, it's time to start trying with a basketball in your hand. It'll be easier to dunk with one hand and then later you can use two.

on 6/11/2007 Jordan's leaping ability is not something anybody can match, a big part of that is genetics. However, you can drastically increase you vertical leap by training your legs, but reaching "His Airness" status is not something most mortals will be able to do.
