Decorating can be fun but also challenging. Especially when you have a great picture that you want to hang, but have no idea where to put it. Here's an easy way to figure out where to put it.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

If you already have the picture, you need to figure out exactly how large it is. Use a tape measurer. Check the length and width of the picture. Write it down somewhere so you don't forget.

  2. Step 2

Figure out a few places where you'd like to put it, but keep in mind how large the picture is. Measure how much space you have in each place (length and width). Lets say you want it above the counter, between two sets of cabinets. You need to check the length between the cabinets and the height from the counter to the cabinets, and from the counter to the ceiling. Write down any measurements you take.

  3. Step 3

You want to make sure that the space isn't too tight...you don't want to struggle to make the picture fit with only an inch or so of space left over. Try to find a place that's more open, like on a wall beside the table with lots of room.

  4. Step 4

Placing the picture at the right height is very important. If it's too low, people will have to look down to see it. If you place it too high, people have to look way up. Try and put it at about eye level for someone of normal height...try about 5'6" up. Prop it up or have someone step back and look at it. Does it still look too low? Too high? Move it! You want to walk into the room and have visual balance when you see the picture.

Tips & Warnings
  • Always write measurements down. It beats having to go back and re-measure something!
