Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- LOREAL Hair Dye (Purple, violet, or blue tone; as says on the label)
- 2o volume peroxide
- mixing bottle for hair dye
- glasses to read the fine print on the label (optional)
- gloves (to use to work hair dye into hair)
- vaseline or alcohol (to remove hair dye)
- comb (to work dye through hair)
- Pantene Pro-v
Step1
I found that just purchasing a dye at the store is not the best product to buy..dyes at the store are problematic, you see, because all hair dyes have a tone in it...red and gold often turn brassy, green looks almost as if you've been living in a swamp...(take my word for it, its all happened to me before..lol)...and when you buy dyes from the store, the purchaser is aware only of the color they are buying, not the unsightly "tone" that comes with it
Step2
Now, what i would suggest is going to an actual beauty store to look for a similar color to what you want. Then look at what the tone is. It should say something like...green, gold, blue...and it will be located on the the label in fine print (bring your glasses if need be).
I like Loreal's products. Also, i've found that a dye with a Purple, violet, or a blue tone is brings out the best results (no brass, or looking like you've just emerged from the black lagoon)..
Also be sure to get 20 volume peroxide, gloves, and a mixing bottle on the way out..
Step3
Once you've gotten home, you'll mix equal parts of the peroxide and dye in the bottle and apply it to the hair with the bottle, starting first at the root then working your way to the ends...
I would comb the dye through, making sure that the hair is evenly coated with dye. Be careful not to comb the hair to tight to the head. It should be a little loose so the the air can help the dye to work. You might get a little dye here and there on your forehead, all of which you can ALMOST (not completely, but ALMOST)entirely remove with a good rubbing of Vaseline or alcohol. Leave the dye in for a least a good half an hour and (without shampooing, such that it will strip your hair of the dye) deep condition your hair for 10 minutes with Pantene Prov...you're hair will be as soft as a baby's
