Have you noticed the huge selection of specialty cleaners at the grocery store lately? They want you to believe that it is impossible to keep a clean house without a different bottle of disinfectant for each room. Not true! Homemade cleaners are effective solutions that are simple to make, and inexpensive. And, these homemade products are environmentally conscious. Use your own cleaning sprays and solutions to keep your home germ- and grime-free without dangerous fumes or chemicals.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 cup of white vinegar
  • 1 clean and empty spray bottle

Step1
Mix 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water together in a spray bottle.
Step2
Get to work on that kitchen with the spray bottle solution. It does a great job on cleaning countertops, backsplashes and inside microwave ovens.
Step3
Clean the bathroom, toilet, sink, shower, bath, flooring and all smooth bathroom surfaces with this simple homemade mixture. It does an awesome job at absorbing odors instead of covering them up. It also dissolves shower and bath scum, dirt and hard water deposits from smooth surfaces (and no, your bathroom won't smell like vinegar! Any aroma disappears when dry). With no coloring factor, white vinegar won't stain tile grout.
Step4
Use the cleaning solution in other areas of your home. When diluted with water, this mixture is mild enough to clean hardwood floors without staining.

Tips & Warnings

  • Because it dissolves detergent residue, white vinegar makes a great fabric softener alternative for families with sensitive skin.
  • For extra stubborn residue, warm the solution slightly. Spray the warm solution on the offending area and leave for 10 to 15 minutes. Scrub and rinse.
