Step1
Plug in your microphone.
Step2
Open Movie Maker and drag one or more video clips or still images to the filmstrip view or timeline view located at the bottom of the screen.
Step3
Select “Show timeline” to view the movie in the timeline view. Narration cannot be recorded in the filmstrip view.
Step4
Click “Tools.” Then click “Narrate Timeline.”
Step5
Place the “Play back indicator” (vertical blue line) on the timeline in the place you want to begin narration.

Step8
Give your narration a file name and click save. The new audio segment will show up on the “Audio/Music” track of your timeline. You may adjust the position or volume as you would any imported audio track.

Tips & Warnings

  • You should adjust or mute the volume of the video track. This can be done by first clicking on “Clip” then selecting the “Audio” menu.
  • Watch the video preview menu as you are narrating your movie. This allows you to be sure that your Microsoft Window Movie narration matches what is happening on screen.
