How to Register to Vote in Hawaii
Registering to vote in Hawaii is easy. Hawaii's Primary Election is held on the second to the last Saturday in September in every even numbered year. At the Primary Election, voters are only allowed to vote for one political party (a single color coded section). Hawaii's General Election is held on the first Tuesday in November in every even numbered year. Register to vote in Hawaii by following these simple steps.

Meet the criteria to register. You can pre-register at 16, but you cannot vote until you turn 18. You must also be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Hawaii, not be a convicted felon serving time or on parole and not currently judged mentally incompetent by a court of law.

Access the online application or apply in person.

Complete the form online before you print or print the form first, and then fill it out. Be sure to use black ink and print clearly.

Sign the form. The application to register to vote is not complete without a valid signature.

Mail the completed, signed application in an envelope using a first class stamp to the county office where you live. You can find the address online at the website given below or call the toll-free number listed below.

Visit the Office of the City or County Clerk in person where you live to complete an Application for Voter Registration or when you apply for a driver's license.

Register at least 30 days prior to the election in which you want to vote. The application must be received by the City or County Clerk where you live no later than 4:30 p.m. on close of registration deadline day.

You must have a picture ID that contains your signature for verification of your identity to be shown when you place your vote.
Providing false information on the application is a class C felony. If convicted, the penalty can be as much as $10,000 and /or imprisoned for up to five years.
