Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Square piece of heavy paper at least 5 inches by 5 inches
  • Favorite beverage

    Fold the Paper

  1. Step 1

Fold the piece of paper in half diagonally.

  2. Step 2

Lay the folded paper--now a triangular shape--on a flat surface with the folded edge toward you. The top of the triangle should point away from you.

  3. Step 3

Fold either the right or left corner of the triangle (not the top corner) to the middle of the opposite side.

  4. Step 4

Fold the other corner (not the top corner) to the middle of the opposite side.

  5. Step 5

Examine the top corner of the triangle, and notice that it has two layers.

  6. Step 6

Pull the layers apart slightly, and fold each one down and away from the other.

  7. Step 7

Notice that you now have an open "envelope."

  8. Create the Cup

  9. Step 1

Slide your hand into the "envelope" you created in Section 1, Step 7.

  10. Step 2

Spread the sides of the "envelope" apart to make a three-dimensional cup.

  11. Step 3

Fill the origami drinking cup with your favorite beverage.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use heavier and more water-resistant paper for a more durable cup.
  • Use a larger square of paper for a cup that can hold more volume.
  • Use a still larger square of paper to make a cup large enough to wear as a hat.
  • Be sure to use clean, unmarked paper for your cup if you plan to drink from it.
  • Do not fill the origami drinking cup with liquid and set in on a piece of expensive furniture. The cup cannot stand on its own.
  • Until you are certain that your origami drinking cup is 100 percent leak-proof, refrain from wearing your finest garments while drinking from it.
