Installing a water purifier in the home is becoming increasingly popular. One of the easiest water purifiers to install is a dual cartridge under the sink purification system.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Water Purifier (under the sink model)
  • Screw Driver
  • Saddle Valve
  • Compression Fittings
  • Drill
  • Adjustable Wrench
  • Plastic Tubing
  1. Step 1

Start by turning off the cold water supply.

  2. Step 2

Prepare to mount the dispenser faucet. Most water purifiers are designed to fit where the existing sink sprayer is, but if you don't want to remove the sink sprayer, you will need to drill a new hole in the sink top. Refer to the manufacturer's directions to the location and size of the hole.

  3. Step 3

Assemble the base of the faucet by inserting a screw into the base mounting hole and secure it with a flat nut. Be sure to follow the more detailed manufacturer instructions for installation of the water purification faucet.

  4. Step 4

Turn off the water and drain the line by opening the faucet before tapping into the cold water supply.

  5. Step 5

Drill a small whole in the supply line to attach a saddle valve. Turn the handle on the valve to expose the lance that is designed to puncture the water line. Position the saddle valve over the supply line until the lance fits in the hole.

  6. Step 6

Attach the back plate of the saddle valve, tightening the nuts to lock it in place. Then screw in the lance.

  7. Step 7

Position the water purifier cartridge between the cold water line and the dispenser, leaving enough room from the bottom of the cabinet to allow for cartridge replacement. Once positioned, secure the cartridge to the back of the cabinet or wall with the hardware provided by the manufacturer.

  8. Step 8

Connect the water purifier by attaching plastic tubing to the saddle valve and the cartridge system, making sure there are no kinks. Be sure to leave enough length to install a compression fittings on each end.

  9. Step 9

Insert each end of the the tubing into the compression fittings. Thread one end onto the saddle valve and fasten by tightening with a wrench. Take the opposite end of the tubing and thread it onto the inlet port of the purifier cartridge. Tighten the nut to secure it in place.

  10. Step 10

Cut another piece of tubing to run from the outlet port of the filtration cartridge to the water dispenser faucet. Insert compression fittings at both ends, threading the nuts onto the dispenser and the filtration cartridge.

  11. Step 11

Turn the water supply back on and let the water run through the purifier for approximately five minutes. This flushes out air pockets in the tubing and any carbon pieces from the filter.
