Summer is the season for long, leisurely days spent outside. A front porch decorated for summer is the perfect welcome to any home. Make your porch a place of fun and comfort by adding a few decorations for summer.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Chair or bench
  • Wreath
  • Seasonal door mat
  • Large flower pots
  • Dirt
  • Flowers
  • Welcome sign
  • Broom
  • Hose
  • Chair cushions
  1. Step 1

Sweep off the front porch. Remove any debris leftover from winter. Spray the porch off with a hose after sweeping.

  2. Step 2

Move a cozy chair or bench to the front porch. Put cushions on the chair to make for a comfortable seat.

  3. Step 3

Hang a floral wreath or hanging planter on the front door. Put freshly cut flowers in the planter or use dried or silk flowers.

  4. Step 4

Put a large pot on the front porch near the chair. Plant summer flowers in the planter. Use several planters if there is enough space on the porch.

  5. Step 5

Put a new summer door mat at the front door. Buy seasonal door mats at home improvement or variety stores.

  6. Step 6

Hang a welcome sign on the house. Use a sign that has a summer motif like flowers, butterflies or the beach.

  7. Step 7

Weed flower gardens surrounding the porch. Plant new flowers in the gardens and add fun yard art like gazing balls or stone statuary.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wicker furniture is perfect for the summer season.
  • Replace worn chair/bench cushions.
  • Plant flowers that are heat and sun friendly.
