Step 1
Contact any state agency. When the National Voter Registration Act was passed, this required every state agency, including public assistance and all others who provide state-funded services to also provide voter registration as well.
-
Step 2
Register to vote. You can register by using your state's mail-in form as well as asking at your local state agency. The National Voter Registration Act allows you to also register to vote at your driver's license renewal center.
-
Step 3
Visit the Can I Vote website and verify your registration. Clicking your state and county from the drop down box will automatically take you to the voting services page for your location. Follow the directions for your state's webpage to verify your voting status.
-
Step 4
Visit the Can I Vote website to also verify your state's voter ID requirements. Under "Step 3: Know What Kind of ID is Required" select your state from the drop down box. This will take you to a state affiliated page showing you whether you need a non-photo ID, photo ID or no identification at all.
-
Step 5
Find your polling place. To do this, see eHow title, "How To Know Where to Vote."
-
Step 6
Vote, and remember to bring your required voter ID with you on Election Day.
