Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream. Your kids will be screaming for these fun ice cream cones that aren’t filled with an icy cold treat but instead with yummy cake and frosting. Kids love ice cream cones but they tend to make a sticky mess. These ice cream cones are mess-free. The kids even get to eat the cone. These are perfect for birthday parties and class treats and they are simple to make.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cake Mix
  • Flat Bottomed Ice Cream Cones
  • Cupcake Tin
  • Foil
  • Frosting
  • Decorations
  1. Step 1

Unwrap flat-bottomed ice cream cones and set one in each muffin tin spot.

  2. Step 2

Crumple some foil into a “snake” and wrap around the bottom of each cone. This will make sure the cone stays standing up. If you are using a mini-muffin tin, you will not need to help stabilize the cones.

  3. Step 3

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

  4. Step 4

Prepare the cake mix according to the instructions. Some cake mixes only require water while other mixes call for eggs, oil or milk.

  5. Step 5

Pour the cake mix evenly into the ice cream cones only filling half way. If you fill more than half, it will rise and spill over the sides.

  6. Step 6

Carefully place filled cones into the preheated oven, being carefully not to tilt or spill the cones.

  7. Step 7

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Step 8

    Cool completely before frosting.

  9. Step 9

Add decorations such as sprinkles and a molded red fruit chew to look like a cherry.

Tips & Warnings
  • Divide the batter and color with different food colorings. Add extra sprinkles to the cake mix for even more fun.
  • Do not overfill. The batter will spill down the sides, making a mess.
