How to Know the Requirements of Taking the SSAT

When preparing for the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), make sure you meet all the requirements to take the test. This may sound simple, but overlooking these important steps could cost you time and money, especially since the SSAT does not offer a refund in almost all cases. Follow these steps and you are sure to know the requirements of taking the SSAT.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to the SSAT website. You will find that the test is designed for students in the fifth through eleventh grade. Make sure you fall in that category.

    • 2

Register to take the SSAT by clicking "Register for the Test" which will bring up a page containing test dates and testing options. At the bottom of this page click "Register for SSAT" and either create a new SSAT account, or if you have one, login to your existing account.

    • 3

Fill in the online form. You will need to select a test date, determine what schools you want to receive your test scores and select a payment method as well. You may register for a test date that places you on standby, but know that you may not get in to take the test.

    • 4

Click "Test Day Check List" which will tell you what is required the day of the test, what time to arrive and what time the test will end. You will need at least two pencils, an eraser and your admission ticket.

    • 5

Relax and know you did everything you could to be well prepared.

Tips & Warnings

  • There are no refunds of SSAT testing fees, so make sure you need to take the test. You may change the date of your SSAT test, but note there is a $30 test rescheduling fee.
