Knowing all the rules for Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) can help define your study plan during the preparation process. Although nothing replaces hard work and dedication to learning and knowing the material, knowing what tools you are and are not allowed to use is just as necessary. Here are the simple steps you need to take in order to know the rules for the SSAT.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Navigate to the SSAT website. Under the title “Preparing for the Test” click “Test Day Checklist.” Here you will find everything you will need to know for the day of the test.
Step2
Click “Test Locations” under the “Register for the SSAT.” This is where you'll find more about flex testing, which is a way for you to take the test independently with an educational consultant.
Step3
Check the registration deadlines and fees to make sure you get in on your preferred testing date. You can find the registration calendar by clicking “Test Calendar and Fees.”
Step4
Move your test date if necessary. Click “Change Requests” to learn the rules regarding moving your test date, and be aware that there is an applicable fee.
Step5
Click “Cancel Tests/Refunds” and you will find the rules regarding cancellation if you don't feel prepared to take the test or if you need to cancel for an emergency.
Step6
Verify special accommodations. Click “Students with Disabilities” to see the allowances the SSAT testing program makes for such circumstances. If you qualify, you may be allotted extra time for certain parts of the test or other accommodations.

Tips & Warnings

  • In order to qualify for special testing exemptions, you must fill out “Special Testing Application (A)” or “Special Testing Application (B)” depending on the exemption.
  • There is a $30 test change fee that applies to all testing date changes. The only time this fee is waived is if the test was canceled due to inclement weather and you are not able to complete testing on the rescheduled date.
  • If you choose to cancel testing and do not reschedule, SSAT does not offer a refund of any kind.

on 6/10/2007 Talk about a challenge! The commercial guides were OK, buy my son was not able to stay focused. That material is very complicated. Tutors were too expensive ($80/hour). Then we found www.MyTutorOnDVD.com and www.SSATtutor.com. It had several practice tests and lots of sample questions - not to mention the 30+ hours of instruction on DVD. Great product.
