The Dental Admission Test (DAT) is a computerized exam for students applying to any dental school in the United States. Students can schedule the exam just about any day of the year, but preferably during the spring before applying to dental colleges. There is no application deadline. Read on to learn how to schedule a DAT.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Register online for the DAT with the American Dental Association (ADA) on their website. Registration is valid for one year only. ADA will send an eligibility letter along with information needed to arrange a date and time with Thomson Prometric where the tests are conducted.
Step2
Arrange a date to take the test by calling Thomson Prometric at (800) 688-5804 or by going to their website. Thomson Prometric needs a minimum of 48 hour notice for scheduling the test. Students are eligible to schedule the exam within one year of registration.
Step3
Retake the DAT, if required, by submitting a new application and fee. You can take a retest up to three times during the registration year with a minimum of 90 days between each test.
Step4
Reschedule or cancel your exam date by notifying Thomson Prometric at least 48 hours before the scheduled date to be reassigned to another date.

Tips & Warnings

  • Schedule at least 60 to 90 days before the desired date to increase the likelihood of receiving your first choice of date, time and location.
  • Testing fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
