Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide which sports you want newsletters on and if you want updates on the sport in general or on individual teams.

  2. Step 2

Go to the Web site of the sport you want newsletter updates on. If you want updates on the entire sport, go to the news section of the Web site and sign up for a newsletter. You will receive a newsletter and other updates on the sport.

  3. Step 3

Select the teams you want newsletters for from the sport's Web site. This will take you to the team's individual Web site. Go to the news section and sign up for a newsletter. Major League Baseball, the NFL, the NBA and the NHL all offer general newsletters for the sport and newsletter for each team.

  4. Step 4

Go the newspaper in the hometown of sports teams you want updates from. Many major newspapers not only have breaking news email systems, but allow you to filter the type of news you want to receive. This way you can receive sports email updates directly from a major newspaper.

  5. Step 5

Visit the CNN Web site, log on or create an account, and go to your member center. Here you can sign up for email about many topics in the news, including professional sports. You can get updates on sports leagues, teams or even individual players.

  6. Step 6

Add a filter to your email program or Web site so that all of your sports updates go to one folder. This way you can easily sort out your sports updates from the rest of your email. Enter the email address the newsletter comes from in the filter options.

  7. Step 7

Consider signing up for an additional email address specifically for your sports newsletters. If you plan to get sports updates from many teams this will prevent you from having to manage your sports email in your regular email account.

Tips & Warnings
  • When signing up for sports newsletters, beware of accidentally signing up for content you do not want to receive. Often several types of content will be checked on the signup page. Remove the check by any content you do not want.
