How you learn about the history of cricket depends on why you want to learn about it. If your goal is just to have a basic understanding of its beginnings and development, the articles available on the internet will be enough. But if your goal is to chat smartly with cricket buffs or to become an expert in the field, you'll need time, dedication and a good plan.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check out Cricinfo.com, select a country site, then click on the “History” link for cricket’s history specific to that particular country to become a regional expert and gain access to related links!

  2. Step 2

Note carefully the resources listed after each internet article. These will become the real basis of your quest. If your search for information is quite serious, keep a computer or handwritten list of sources you would like to read, noting what details about each make it seem appealing.

  3. Step 3

Search your public, school, or club library to find the books or magazines listed as resources for the Internet articles you've read. If you are interested in just one aspect of cricket, such as the history of the game in one nation or one time period, or the development of a particular team, this is the time to narrow your search to that subtopic.

  4. Step 4

Check your National Cricket Council website as well as television listings for announcements of programs or film showings that relate to your topic.

  5. Step 5

Check frequently with the International Cricket Council's website at ICC.cricket.org. Keep in mind that changes in rules and regulations along with changes in personnel affect the modern history of the sport.
