How to Learn Extreme Snowmobiling History

If it moves, someone will eventually figure out how to make it move faster, leave the earth while doing so, and come back to earth sometimes slightly askew. When videos of spectacular crashes go crazy, the moving object is ready to be transformed into an EXTREME sport. Snowmobiling is one of the sports that has recently made this transition. While snowmobile racing has gone on since Joseph-Armand Bombardier invented the snowmobile in 1937, extreme snowmobiling is a marriage of motocross and snowmobiling. Learn about its history.

  1. Step 1

    Read about the inventor of the snowmobile, Joseph-Armand Bombardier, the early history of the snowmobile industry, and the history of Bombardier, Inc. in the book "The Bombardier Story: Planes, Trains and Snowmobiles" by Larry Macdonald.

  2. Step 2

    Get an idea what extreme snowmobiling is all about by reading "Extreme Snowmobiling" by Mandy R. Marx. Go to a Web site that has a glossary of extreme snowmobiling and snocross terms.

  3. Step 3

    Go to the Web site of the World Power Sports Association (WPSA), the international organization that sanctions snocross competition. Check its sections on recent competitions, equipment, and articles about some of the sport's stars.

  4. Step 4

    Realize that the popularity of extreme snowmobiling has been in great part due to the X Games. Check one of the Web pages that describes snowmobiling competition in the X Games.

  5. Step 5

    Get a copy or subscription to the magazine "Snow-x." It has some of the most comprehensive articles about the sport.

  6. Step 6

    Read about some of the most famous racers in the sport. Blair Morgan is one of the most famous and has his name attached to a video game that has been very successful.

  7. Step 7

    Realize that most of the information about extreme snowmobiling is in the form of videos and that there are a huge number of these videos on the Internet.
