Things You'll Need:
- Harness and leash
- Dog toys
-
Step 1
Play with your dingo in an enclosed area. Since dingoes are not fully domesticated animals, they retain many of their wild instincts. A dingo’s instinct is to flee when threatened or frightened. So if your play session gets too intense for her, your dingo may run away if not enclosed.
-
Step 2
Emphasize exercise in play. Dingoes need more exercise than the typical domestic dog, but playing typical dog games will get them this exercise. Try playing fetch, or see if your dingo is interested in chasing a ball.
-
Step 3
Allow your dingo to show her natural behavior. Dingoes are excellent tree climbers, and some have even been known to climb ladders and lounge on house roofs! If you have no climbable trees in your yard, add other obstacles that your pet may enjoy climbing on, such as simple, sturdy outdoor furniture.
-
Step 4
Introduce other dogs carefully. Dingoes can enjoy playing with other dogs, but take your time to introduce them, keeping both on leash at first. If both seem friendly and interested in playing, let them off leash and watch the action!
-
Step 5
Have some quiet time. Though dingoes love active play, your pet will want to spend some quiet time with you. Quiet time can be playtime, too! Seek out small games your pet enjoys, and give him a lot of affection.
-
Step 6
Encourage your dingo’s behavior. If she is especially interested in an activity, give her opportunities to participate in it. Dingoes are very intelligent creatures and will begin inventing their own games.
