How to Dress for a College Reunion

Even though you're older and a lot more mature, the day your invitation to your college reunion arrives in your mailbox all of those crazy memories of yesteryear come flooding back. You immediately head to your closet to dig out that old, favorite college sweatshirt. It's a little more worn looking than you remembered. Now what? Dressing for your college reunion is no different than dressing for any other event in your life.

Instructions

    • 1

Read your invitation closely to find out the events included in your reunion. If the events aren't listed or details seem confusing, call the organizers or check the reunion website for more information.

    • 2

Select your attire according to the activities. If the reunion includes a black-tie event, a tuxedo or evening gown is appropriate. If the event is being held at a football game, a sweatshirt and jeans would be perfect. Dress for the setting.

    • 3

Dress comfortably! You don't have to "dress to impress." Wear clothes you feel good in. If you aren't comfortable, you won't enjoy yourself and others will observe how ill at ease you seem to be.

    • 4

Find something related to your old college days to include in your outfit. It might be your college ring, a tie tack, or an item of clothing in your school's colors. Many times, women can wear a piece of jewelry that discreetly displays the school mascot or school colors.

    • 5

Wear comfortable shoes! You're going to want to take a tour of your old stomping grounds and walk around campus. If your feet hurt, it won't be a very enjoyable visit.

    • 6

Get a haircut. A couple of days before the reunion, visit your barber or stylist for a trim. You want to look your best for all of your old friends you haven't seen in a long time. The best way to do that is to be trimmed up and well-groomed.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't try to be something you're not. Be yourself!

  • Don't completely change your style of dressing or your hairstyle just for your reunion.
