Decide on a guest list for the party. Break the guest list up to calculate how many adults and how many children will be at the confirmation party. This will help you decide what to prepare for food and beverages.

Pick a date and time for the party. Find a location keeping in mind how many guests will be attending. You can buy or make invitations to send out. If your party will be smaller, you can call the guests to invite them personally.

Plan the food you will be serving at your party. Either hire a caterer or plan to purchase and make the food yourself. Keep a list of guests that have responded to your invitations. Plan for the right amounts of food and drinks for the party.

Decide on what decorations you want for your confirmation party and purchase them. Confirmation decorations can be purchased at a party supply store in your area or online. Incorporate photos and other memorabilia of the guest of honor into the party theme to make the party personal.

Buy all plates, napkins, utensils and cups you will need for the party. Get groceries for the party two to four days prior to the party to ensure freshness.

Tips & Warnings
Start planning the party two or more months in advance giving yourself enough time to mail invitations, order food and get decorations.
Have at least one other person lined up to help with greeting and passing out drinks, food, etc. if you are not having the party catered.
If you're planning for 50 guests you should have at least 1 pound of coffee, 18 to 20 pounds of mashed potatoes and 25 to 35 pounds of chicken.
Remember clergy and other close congregation whom you may not have on your family or friends list when sending invitations.
Don't add decorations to an already full buffet table.
