Step 1
Set a date and time for the auditions to take place. It’s best if you start early in the day because that will give you the chance to see the most performers.
-
Step 2
Determine a place for the auditions to take place. Ideally they will be held at the theater where the performance will take place but if for some reason that is not possible you are going to have to find another location.
-
Step 3
Decide on what the actors will need to do for the audition. For example: How many bars of a song will they need to sing? How long does their monologue need to be?
-
Step 4
Advertise in newspapers and other publications that target theatrical performers. Backstagejobs.com is a popular website for placing audition information.
-
Step 5
Create flyers and distribute them throughout the city and surrounding area where you will be holding auditions. Word of mouth is still the best type of advertising.
-
Step 6
Place an ad on your company’s website. Most people, when looking for dinner theater acting jobs these days, are going to check the website of the company they are auditioning for.
-
Step 7
Call agents and mangers of particular performers you may be interested in and inform them of the auditions as well.
