Step 1
Advertise online. Craigslist, Friendster, MySpace are all part of the social networking scene. There are other sites as well where you can create a page dedicated to you or the group you wish to form. Make the ad sound fun, exciting and normal. There is a modicum of caution people exercise when answering online ads. So if you can, post pictures from other events and list extensive contact information.

Step 2
Visit Samba classes. You may have to do this a tad discreetly as the main instructor may take issue with someone waiting outside their dance class. But take the time to go to dance halls, post fliers and greet people. Ask them to come by and audit the group.
-
Step 3
Find a convenient space. This is one of the most important aspects. For people to join something new, they need to be sure that you are hosting this samba dance class or group in a public space. A lot of times schools, churches, park and recreation departments will rent space with minimal cost. Then ask the attending parties to chip in a couple of bucks to cover the cost.
-
Step 4
Pick great music. There are so many styles of music one can dance the samba to. It should obviously be up tempo. But just like on the ABC show "Dancing with the Stars," don't be afraid to take risks and dance to today's music. Mix in the native Brazilian music as well for a nice combination.
-
Step 5
Settle on the date. The reason this is the final step is that when you are initially setting up a group you want to get interest first. This way you'll get a lot of people excited and be able exchange emails with them a couple of times before locking down a date. For instance, you visit a dance class, get names of people who are interested and then follow-up. This gives you a secondary exchange with them rather then just passing out a flier and hoping they show. When you pick a date be sure that it does not conflict with any other major events happening in the world or your community.

Step 6
On the big night, gather the group, make sure everyone introduces themselves to each other and dance the night away. Congrats, you have formed your very own Samba dance group.
