Things You'll Need:
- CD player
- Windows Media Player or other media software
- iPod
- CD lens cleaner
-
Step 1
Visit your local music store. Larger music stores, like Best Buy or Target, have a wide selection of different types of music and usually also have used CDs for those with a limited budget. Their online stores also come in handy, if there isn’t a store in your area.
-
Step 2
Join a CD club that features a large hip hop selection. Columbia House and BMG Music Service both have CD clubs where you get a number of free CDs for joining, but you have a set number of CDs you must purchase in a specific time period. The average cost of some of their CDs is usually higher than what you’d pay at the store, plus you have to pay shipping costs. Estimate the total amount you will to see if it’s worth joining the club.
-
Step 3
Download music from the internet. There are several music download sites to choose from such as iTunes for downloading to the iPod or cNet’s Download.com and Napster, if you want to download music to play on your computer using Windows Media Player or other media software. Some download sites have a fee and others are free.
-
Step 4
Find sites specifically geared towards selling CDs. CDNow and CD Universe offer both new and used CDs including a large selection of hip-hop dance music.
-
Step 5
Look for local, niche music stores. Many of these stores not only have mainstream CDs for sale or that they can order, but they also tend to have local musicians’ CDs that may not be available anywhere else.
-
Step 6
Borrow a copy of a friend’s hip-hop dance music CD. This is a good way to find new artists you may not have heard of and give you a chance to listen to something new prior to buying it yourself.
