How to Become a Work-at-Home Mom

There are thousands of moms who would do anything to stay at home with their children. Many do not even consider staying at home because they need a job to support their families. You can become a work-at-home mom, and be with your children while making money. There are many scams but also lots of legitimate opportunities out there.

1. Decide whether you want to start a business or work for someone else. There are many variations of both, but this decision will give you a place to start.

2. Devote at least a small amount of time each day to searching for a job or business-related information. The more time you spend on work, the more successful you will be.

3. Designate an area in your home to be your work space. Even if it is just a corner with a table and the computer, you will get more done than you would in front of the television or in the middle of the kitchen.

4. Be aware that there are thousands of scams on the Internet and in magazines, newspapers and job ads aimed at people wanting to work at home.

5. Check each job lead or opportunity thoroughly. Get contact names and numbers, do a search on the Internet for the company name and look for them at the Better Business Bureau.

Tips & Warnings

• When trying to come up with a business, go with what you enjoy. If you enjoy doing something or are passionate about something, you will be more successful in that area. If you are not passionate about what you are doing or selling, it will show.
• Never pay for a job. Anyone asking for money when offering you a job is not a legitimate job offer. You would not pay when applying for a job outside your home so don't pay for one on the computer.
