Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Ivory or pastel colored cardstock
  • Tea party themed rubber stamps
  • Fringed scarves
  • Silk flowers
  • Oversized women’s hats
  • Candles
  • Scented flowers
  • Baby shower favors
  1. Step 1

Make a guest list and decide on a date for the baby shower. Once you have chosen both of these, you are ready to select a location for the baby shower.

  2. Step 2

Find the perfect location for the afternoon tea baby shower. A private tea house could be a great place to hold the baby shower or an at-home tea party also can be lots of fun.

  3. Step 3

Choose invitations that compliment your afternoon tea party theme. You can also create your own, using ivory or pastel colored cardstock and rubber stamps with tea party themes.

  4. Step 4

Design a stylish look for the afternoon tea baby shower. Great ideas for your baby shower include scented candles, big and feminine flowers that have scents (like lilacs) and oversized women’s hats.

  5. Step 5

Create a “mother’s chair” for the new mother to sit in while she opens gifts. Make it look pretty by wrapping fringed scarves around the top or hanging silk flowers around the ends.

  6. Step 6

Give every guest a baby shower favor that compliments the theme. Personalized tins of tea can be a great idea, or decorative coffee and tea mugs.

  7. Step 7

Say thank you to your guests with thank you notes that suit the afternoon tea theme. Blank cards give you the most options and have pretty images, find something delicate and feminine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Offer a variety of loose teas, as tea is considered the “main event” at any tea party. It is best to have a wide selection so your guests have plenty of choices.
  • Be sure to offer some decaffeinated and herbal teas as guests may prefer these when making tea selections.
  • Everything about a tea party is refined, elegant and feminine, but it doesn’t have to be stuffy by any means. Add in your personal style to make the tea party fun!
