A nursery rhyme theme is a classic for a baby shower. Just about everyone knows and loves the classic rhymes and stories of Mother Goose. These entertaining and soothing rhymes have been read to babies for years. A nursery rhyme baby shower is charming and reminds everyone of their favorite rhymes from childhood.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Mother Goose storybook
  • Nursery rhyme themed invitations
  • Mother Goose centerpieces
  1. Step 1

Make a guest list and select several dates that would be good for the baby shower. Once you have decided on both of these, you are ready to find a good location for the baby shower.

  2. Step 2

Choose where you would like to hold the baby shower. You could hold the baby shower at a popular restaurant in a private room, or perhaps at a friend’s house.

  3. Step 3

Select invitations that compliment the nursery rhyme theme. Send out invitations to your guests and consider making the inside of the invitation rhyme.

  4. Step 4

Decorate the room with pictures from your favorite storybooks. Get them blown up at your local copy center and hang them on poster board or foam core.

  5. Step 5

Centerpieces would be ideal as items that are popular from Mother Goose’s popular rhymes. One table could have a black sheep (for Ba Ba Black Sheep) and another table could have a plate and a spoon (for “and the plate went away with the spoon”).

  6. Step 6

Create a pretty chair for the mother-to-be to sit in while she opens gifts. A great idea is to put stuffed animals of some of the nursery rhyme characters at her feet of the chair.

  7. Step 7

Give out nursery rhyme themed favors for this baby shower. You could copy a quote from your favorite nursery rhyme and have it printed on coffee mugs, or potholders for everyone.

Tips & Warnings
  • One idea is to focus on a specific nursery rhyme that you like the very best. That can be a lot of fun.
  • You can also ask guests to share their favorite nursery rhymes with the group.
  • A baby shower game you can play is to make a fun quiz about the nursery rhymes and see how much people know about them.
