How to Find an IP Address
Every computer, or piece of electronic equipment on the Internet, has an IP address. For the typical Internet user, knowing the IP address for your computer is more of a curiosity than a necessity. However, if you ever need to access your computer remotely, or you plan to get involved with multi-user Internet gaming, then knowing your IP address may be a necessity. To find your IP address, follow these short steps.

Click "Start" from the main start up menu. Then click "Run."

Type "cmd" in the open field, and click "OK."

Type "ipconfig/all" on the command line given in the cmd.exe window.

Tips & Warnings
To access your public IP address, use any search engine, and search for "my IP address." You will find several sites that will display your IP address. You will also find other facts about your online presence, such as your service provider.
There can be a difference between your public IP and private IP address. This is especially true if you are using a router in your house.
Many times, the IP address assigned to you by your service provider is a dynamic IP address, which means that your IP address may change every time you reboot your computer.
