How to Buy and Install PDA Batteries

Many people buy a new PDA before the battery wears out or simply buy a new PDA after the batteries die. For people who prefer to get longer use out of their PDA, replacing the battery is a fairly simple. Follow these steps.

Things You'll Need:

  • Instruction manual
  • Small screwdriver
  • Torx driver
  • New battery
  1. Step 1

    Determine whether replacing the battery yourself will void your warranty. Find this information in the owners manual or by contacting the manufacturer.

  2. Step 2

    Determine the type of battery you will need to buy in order to repair your PDA. Find this information in the instruction manual or by contacting the manufacturer.

  3. Step 3

    Buy a battery. Find batteries at several online stores or look at your local computer store. Call local computer stores before going to be sure they have your battery model.

  4. Step 4

    Get instructions for replacing batteries in the owner's manual or search online. Print out and review instructions for any needed tools.

  5. Step 5

    Follow the manufacturer's instructions for removing the old battery. Use a small screwdriver or Torx driver to gently pry out the old battery. Use caution to not disrupt any circuits or wires that will result in further repairs.

  6. Step 6

    Insert the new battery. Carefully replace all parts of the PDA and close the casing.

  7. Step 7

    Do not force any battery removal or replacement. Take the PDA to a professional if you cannot easily do this repair.
