How to Address Wedding Invitations
Weddings are an exciting time, but they can also be stressful with the long list of to-dos. Addressing wedding invitations is just one of those items, and although time consuming this is a step that needs to be done well in advance of the big date. Following these guidelines to make the chore easier.

Confirm your invitation list and addresses and verify that you have the correct number of invitations.

Clear a space where you can work. This includes space to write or type in addition to room to spread out the list with addresses, envelopes, return labels and stamps.

Write the names of the invited. Formatting guidelines can be found through the links listed as resources for this article. Write names in full, use Roman numerals when applicable and avoid nicknames unless the person never goes by their given name.

Enter the street address or P.O. Box after the names. On the line below this, write the city, state and zip code. Write out cities, states and numbered streets in full (with the exception of D.C.).

Verify the zip codes provided by looking up the city and state at the USPS website.

Put all invitation materials including maps, hotel information, response cards and envelopes and menu information into the envelopes.

Place a stamp and a return address label on each envelope and seal shut. You are ready to mail.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure invitations are mailed out six to eight weeks before the wedding date.
You do not have to send an invitation to your wedding party, but it is nice for guests to have as a memento.
