Shopping is a big part of the party-planning process. Have your list prepared and enlist the help of a couple of sorority sisters before you leave the house to select supplies for your next sorority party.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select invitations that reflect the theme and spirit of your party. If it is a formal occasion, spend a little extra for custom-printed invitations. A more informal bash invitation could be a single sheet flyer that you hand out to party goers or even an online invitation such as those available from Evite.

  2. Step 2

Buy coordinated party supplies such as cups and plates for the refreshments you will be serving. Select items that go with your theme such as printed plastic cups or colored plates to create a more unified look for your party.

  3. Step 3

Plan your food and drink menu before you hit the stores. If you will be making food, double check recipes to make sure you purchase enough ingredients to serve the total number of expected guests. If you will be serving alcohol at the party, make sure you purchase enough to serve each guest of legal age.

  4. Step 4

Shop for decorations and bring your decorating committee along. You can hit your local party store for balloons and other printed decorations or you can contact a party rental shop for more fancy items such as coordinated table linens and table decorations.

  5. Step 5

Find a party favor for your guests that they will enjoy, such as a small picture frame. You can hire a photo booth for your party and invite your guests to take wacky photos to put in them. Or find a party favor that suits your party's theme such as beads for a Mardi Gras bash or school pennants for a pre-Homecoming rally.

  6. Step 6

Make out a budget for supplies before you hit the stores to make sure that you keep your sorority in the black. If you will be hosting multiple parties throughout the year, make sure that each event is allocated an appropriate sum for food, drinks, decorations, rentals, and any other expenses you may incur.

Tips & Warnings
  • Save money on many of the supplies needed to throw a party by shopping smart. Look for sales on paper products and other non-perishables at your local store and stock up when the price is right.
