Plastic storage containers have clearly given way to purses in the home party business. Instead of spending money on the bags, host your own party, possible earning a free purse or two.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Prepare to Host a Purse Party

  1. Step 1

Attend a purse party to get an idea of how they are run. Ask the hostess to help you host your own party. Usually, she will get a commission for signing up new people, so she should be happy to help you.

  2. Step 2

Contact PurseParty.com or Diva Girl Purse Party, both reputable purse party distributors, to learn how to host a purse party. While the bags provided by these companies replicate designer styles, they are not counterfeits.

  3. Step 3

Check CraigsList in your city for distributors and consultants looking for party hosts.

  4. Step 4

Shop around for workable upfront costs. You may be required to purchase a starter kit, front the cost of the bags or provide a large deposit on merchandise.

  5. Step 5

Find a location. Usually you will host the party in your own home, but you may want to entice co-workers with a party in the company break room or enjoy a night out with a private room at a lounge.

  6. Host Your Own Purse Party

  7. Step 1

Invite everyone you know to your purse party. You may even consider making it a public party and advertising online.

  8. Step 2

Be clear if invited attendees can bring guests. Purse parties work best by word of mouth advertising, but you don't want the party to get out of hand.

  9. Step 3

Work with your consultant to set up a great party. She is there to help you, so make sure she sets up an attractive display of merchandise in your home.

  10. Step 4

Provide refreshments and drinks, so that people keep shopping. A few cosmos may help loosen the purse strings.

  11. Step 5

Make sure your friends are buying so you can earn your free purse.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most hostesses get paid in purses, not cash, so consider this before you host a party.
  • Even if you disclose your bags are replica, it's still illegal to sell counterfeit purses. Tread carefully if you choose to have designer knock-offs at your purse party.
