Drinking games are a regular part of college party life, and while some are common and familiar across the nation, others are specific to certain regions or colleges. If you want to have drinking games at your frat party, plan to be responsible for guests who become too intoxicated.

Plan Drinking Games for a Frat Party

Step1
Pick local favorites. New Orleans college students are very familiar with a drink called the "Hurricane," which is served in the French Quarter section of the city.
Step2
Go with the economical choice. Beer kegs are more affordable than liquor, and keg stands are almost a pre-requisite to finishing college.
Step3
Schedule poker night with the guys and the girls. Strip poker can be combined with liquor shots so that on each losing hand, a person must remove an article of clothing and down a shot of liquor.
Step4
Sample the goods. Experiment with creative or new drinking games and invent a new cult favorite while hanging out with your frat brothers.
Step5
Plan to take advantage of games. Scrabble, charades and Monopoly are hilarious with alcohol punishments for incorrect guesses and losing teams.

Be a Responsible Host

Step1
Make sure all guests are of legal drinking age. If you allow underage drinking, you risk your fraternity's reputation and credentials on campus. You could be fined, suspended or banned from campus.
Step2
Monitor your guests. If someone looks like they've had too much to drink, cut them off for their own good.
Step3
Allow guests to spend the night if necessary. If a guest is too intoxicated to drive, it's better for everyone if they stay put and then drive home the next day.
Step4
Know who is at your party. Try to enforce a guest list and keep an eye on people you don't know. Date rape is a common occurrence on campuses and it generally results from wild parties where uninvited guests may have appeared to prey on other students.
Step5
Remember your neighbors. Not everyone is a college student and your non-student neighbors will likely not appreciate the noise level, jammed parking and overall rowdy behavior.
Step6
Call for help if a guest appears to be in distress. Dial 911 or the campus police and don't hesitate.
Step7
Arrange transportation for your guests. If they are too intoxicated to drive, call cabs or campus sober driver services to return them home safely.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always watch your drink. Never let it leave your hand, or at the very least, your range of sight. Don't accept an open alcoholic drink from anyone, even someone you think you know well.
