Frat party food can be one of the most memorable or one of the most disastrous parts of your big night. Make plans ahead of time and know what the menu will be in advance of the party to ensure proper quantities and prompt delivery.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Select Food for a Frat Party

Step1
Go with popular party food. Buffalo wings, chips and dip, hamburgers and hot dogs or tacos make great choices.
Step2
Decide whether to do finger foods or a sit-down dinner. Finger foods can be casual, like buffalo wings, or formal, like escargot. Escargot and sit-down dinners are best for formal parties.
Step3
Hire a catering company. Caterers take all of the work away by providing not only just the food, but also service, table settings, dining furniture and the much dreaded clean-up.
Step4
Stick to campus favorites or well-known local restaurants. You can host a party at the restaurant, ask them to cater, or request a large order specifying the amount you'll need.
Step5
Have options. Keep in mind that some guests may prefer vegetarian, kosher or even low-calorie cuisine. Food labels will tell you if a product is kosher as well as vegetarian, and you can opt for things like veggies instead of chips or "light" beers to reduce calories.
Step6
Select food that complements the theme of your party. For example, for fiesta parties, go with Latin food such as Cuban or Mexican, and for mobster or Godfather-themed parties, select Italian food. Talk to the restaurant or caterer about your theme and ask if they have any additional ideas.

Get the Best Bang for Your Buck

Step1
Survey guests beforehand. Find out what everyone likes and try to organize accordingly. This is best for smaller parties.
Step2
Ask about specials. Some restaurants and catering companies throw in little extras like additional appetizers for large orders.
Step3
Grill out. You can make the food yourself and large quantities of hot dogs, buns, hamburgers and such can be purchased for reasonable prices especially at large wholesale retailers like Costco and Sam's Club.
Step4
Beg for your house mother's help. Many fraternities have house mothers who act as second moms for the guys and may be up to cooking for the frat parties.

Tips & Warnings

  • Many people have food allergies. Make sure there is someone at the party who is familiar with the ingredients in the food.
