5. Make a demo tape. Most establishments want to hear what you have to offer. Present yourself in a positive manner so as to improve your chances of being considered.

6. Perform every chance you are given, whether you are paid little or nothing. The experience and exposure are priceless, both for your confidence and for word of mouth advertising.

7. Take good care of yourself. Performing is a strenuous activity, and because of the late hours you are likely to work, it is easy to get run down and likely damage your voice. Make sure you get enough rest.
