Decide where you want to have your date. If you’re on a budget, having it at your place or at a mutual friend’s home is the best choice.
Step2
Plan the menu for the evening. This should be a simple meal consisting of a salad, some pasta, toasted French bread and iced tea. Alternately, have something else that you know your date will enjoy. The key is to keep the cost of your ingredients around $10.
Step3
Find snapshots of you and your date. Take some digital pictures together a few days before date night if you don't already have pictures. Scan the snapshots onto your computer. Make a simple photo slide show on your computer or laptop.
Step4
Create an invitation card on your computer indicating the place and time you would like to get together. Print the invitation and hand deliver or mail it. Make sure there’s enough time to make adjustments in case there is a schedule conflict.
Step5
Purchase the supplies for your big night a day before date night. Don’t forget to buy a single stem rose. You can usually get them for less than $2. Use a soda bottle for a vase. Also, buy a couple of tall red candles if you don’t have any at home. They shouldn’t cost more that $4.
Step6
Set up a small table in the backyard or on the patio. Place a table cloth on it, preferably red or white. Place your single stem rose in the middle and set up your plates, glasses and eating utensils. Remember to include a portable CD or cassette player and your candles.
Step7
Prepare your meal. Don’t worry about how the meal will turn out – it is usually the presentation that matters. Your creativity and sincerity will carry you a long way.
Step8
Light the candles and play soft music a few minutes before your date arrives.
Step9
Escort her to the table. Explain that you want to do something different and have personally planned and prepared everything to ensure that she has a great time.
Step10
Serve the meal.
Step11
Bring out your laptop or retreat into the house to your computer and play the slideshow you created after dinner.
Step12
Enjoy the rest of your evening together and remember, don’t let your date know you spent less that $20!
