Gone are the days when party games meant Simon Says or Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Now your child is a teenager and coming up with party games for teens is a little more challenging. Movie Night parties are great because it's a grown-up theme you can adapt activities that will please boys and girls alike.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Paper and clear tape
  • Several digital cameras
  • Video cameras
  • Movie props and costumes
  • Bingo cards
  • Popcorn
  • Candy prizes

Step1
Write the name of famous movie celebrities on pieces of paper and tape one on the back of each person as they arrive. Then for the first half of the night have everyone go round the room asking yes or no questions to try to guess the name of the person on their back. At the end of the activity have an emcee give out best actor or actress awards by saying what famous movie is winning the award. For example, if one of the guests is Johnny Depp they would give the award to Pirates of the Caribbean. If the person with Johnny Depp on his back doesn't know it's him, shout out clues until he figures it out.
Step2
Hold a video scavenger hunt by asking some of your guests to bring a digital camera. Break into three to five person teams with each team having one camera. Give each team an identical list of items they can find around your yard or in your neighborhood and have them locate as many items as they can and take pictures of them with the team posing by the item. If you're working in a small space, make it harder to locate things by giving clues instead of specifically naming the item. Set a time limit and the team with the most correct pictures wins.
Step3
Research the facts about several popular teen movies and hold a trivia contest. You can do this as teams or individuals depending on how many guests you have. Ask the questions and have players write down their answers, and the team or individual with the most correct answers wins.
Step4
Bring out the creativity in all your teens by having them make their own movie. Divide them into two or three teams depending on how many kids you have, and give each team a video camera. Then write down movie titles for the teams to draw and match them up with a box of props and costumes that go with that movie. Make the titles silly by combining two movies such as "Napoleon Dynamite meets Godzilla". In every prop box include a similar silly item like a plunger or rubber chicken to see how the different teams work the item into their movie. Don't give them all night, and limit the time to an hour. Tell them that everyone must participate as a director, photographer, writer or actor. When time is up, queue up the movies and prepare to laugh.
Step5
Play a good, old-fashioned game of bingo. Make up bingo cards with names of characters or actors from the teens favorite movies and use popcorn as markers. When someone gets a bingo, give out movie theater size candy bars or boxes of candy as prizes.
