The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is a standardized test used for admission by some independent schools. In order take this test, you'll need to find an authorized testing center. You can choose from group or individual testing with different locations for each.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Choose between group and individual testing and decide whether special accommodations, like extra time, is needed for the student. Keep in mind that the test will have to be taken in time to meet application deadlines. Your potential site choices will depend on these factors.
Step2
Search the SSAT Test Center website to find the closest location to you. You can search via location, date or centers offering special accommodations.
Step3
Ask instructors and administrators at the school that your child will be applying to about where local testing centers are. You can also ask at the school that your child currently attends.
Step4
Call SSAT test preparation programs such as Educational Connections. Some offer individual testing for the SSAT at their own location. They will also have information about group test centers.
Step5
Register online for the test at the center of your choice. The Secondary School Admissions Test website offers online registration for the SSAT, as well as, an online application for many of the schools that require the SSAT for admission.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the date has passed to register at the testing center of your choice, check to see if you can use standby registration.
  • If the test is required for admission to a particular school, register for a test date that is in advance of any admission deadlines.

on 6/10/2007 Talk about a challenge! The commercial guides were OK, buy my son was not able to stay focused. That material is very complicated. Tutors were too expensive ($80/hour). Then we found www.MyTutorOnDVD.com and www.SSATtutor.com. It had several practice tests and lots of sample questions - not to mention the 30+ hours of instruction on DVD. Great product.
