Every bride-to-be fantasizes about looking perfect when it is time to come down the aisle. Even men may sometimes become anxious about shedding those last few pounds in time for the big day. With a careful balance of healthy eating and exercise, you may find that sticking to a wedding diet is easier than you thought.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Set realistic goals. On average, a loss of one to two pounds per week is considered healthy. If you start planning your diet early on in the engagement, you will have enough time to lose weight the proper way, which increases your chances of maintaining your figure permanently.
Step2
Speak with your physician or a nutritionist about the right amount of calories that you should be consuming. Once you establish a number, strive not to exceed that limit.
Step3
Eliminate the fat and sugar from your diet as soon as possible. If necessary, clean out your kitchen cabinets so that the temptation is out of sight and out of mind. If you’re craving something sweet, reach for some fruit or a serving of frozen yogurt instead.
Step4
Record your daily food intake in a journal such as what you ate, when you ate it and how you felt afterwards. After a weeks, you may be able to identify certain times of day that are more difficult for you than others. Use that knowledge to stop your cravings before they start.
Step5
Partner up with a friend or colleague that is also on a wedding diet. Having a support system in place might be just the motivation that you need when your spirits are low. You can also check online for support groups in your neighborhood.
Step6
Exercise as much as you can. Joining a gym is one way to get moving but if you prefer something different, try taking a long walk during your lunch hour or stretching at home. Strength training is another way to get fit, burn calories and sculpt muscles.
Step7
Post some inspirational quotes or photos in a visible place and reflect on them when you feel inclined to give up. Everyone feels discouraged sometimes but focusing on how confident you will feel on your big day once you are fit and healthy might be just the push you need to keep going.

Tips & Warnings

  • Hydrate your body by drinking water. You will need lots of fluids to replace the ones being lost during your diet and exercise routines.
  • Consult your physician immediately if you experience feelings of nausea, dizziness or fever while dieting and exercising.
